Hallo Gast [ Registrierung | Anmelden ]

So you come on the Internet with Bluetooth and BlueFritz?! Ap-DSL!

Here is a short Wiki HowTo? to help AVM BlueFritzAPDSL owners to go finally on the internet with Linux:

Conditions:

>- For dual boot systems, a second BT Dongle is recommended, since the data pairing is always stored in the current active OS. Thus one prevents that one must continuously again log in. I use a EPoX? Dongle with Linux, to my fullest satisfaction... :-)

>- This howto assumes you have a HD installation à la Debian or Beginner Mode (NO Poor Man's Install). Whether it also works with the Live CD system, I cannot say......

Proceed (do all work as root - so be cautious):

>- First you must write in the following file:

:code: /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bnep0?

DEVICE=bnep0?
BOOTPROTO=DHCP
ONBOOT=no:code:

>- Usually Kanotix with bluez-pin asks for the PIN. The PIN can also be verified in the following file, in accordance with the pin at the backside of the Ap-DSL:

:code: /etc/bluetooth/pin :code:

> - Now we test whether the Bluetooth module was recognized:

:code:> hciconfig

hci0?: Type: USB
      1. Address: 00:00:00:00:00:00 ACL MTU: 0:0 SCO MTU: 0:0
      2. bytes:0 acl:0 sco:0 events:0 errors:0
      3. bytes:0 acl:0 sco:0 commands:0 errors:0:code:

The BT Dongle was not initialized yet. "hciconfig hci0? up" solves the problem. Afterwards it should look like this:

:code:> hciconfig hci0? up
> hciconfig

hci0?: Type: USB
      1. Address: 00:04:76:F2:C3:2E ACL MTU: 128:8 SCO MTU: 64:8
      2. RUNNING PSCAN ISCAN
      3. bytes:69 acl:0 sco:0 events:8 errors:0
      4. bytes:27 acl:0 sco:0 commands:7 errors:0:code:

Look now for the AP-DSL with "hcitool scan". WARNING: Before doing that, set the configuration software of the equipment in Windows to "discoverable"!

:code:> hcitool scan
Scanning ...
      1. 04:0E:24:0E:56 AVM BlueFRITZ?! AP-code :

Now the work is nearly done! With

:code:> pand -Q:code:

or an equivalent command to set the PAN access. Possibly, the pin is queried now.

If done, then let's get an IP-address from DHCP with the command "dhclient" from DSL-NAP, and now it's done!

If you want, you may open the UDP and TCP-Ports for your aMule and azareus for your new ip-adress, and you've done it. Luckily, the Access Point always distributes the same IP-Adress for the same Bluetooth-Adress (correct me if I'm wrong), that's why you have to do the changes only one time.

To now go on the internet in the future, only enter in a root console:

:code:> pand -Q
> dhclient:code:

(This page is in the process of getting translated. More coming soon).

Es empfiehlt sich, nach "pand -Q" eine Weile zu warten, bis der PAN-Daemon konnektiert und das Device bnep0? erstellt hat. To surf, a browser is needed, naturally, which is started as a user...

Falls es nicht gleich klappt, empfiehlt e sich, über den Modem-Dialog von Knoppix

:code: K -> Knoppix -> Netzwerk -> Modemsetup -> Bluetooth :code:

-- (so ähnlich, hab es grad nicht präsent) -- ein Bluetooth-Modem einzurichten. Dieser Dialog benutzt einen anderen Pinhelper, was manchmal von Vorteil ist. Danach sollten sich Euer Dongle und die AVM-Box "kennen", und alles weitere sollte funktionieren.

For further information (special, like how to use the ISDN functions), you will all what is necessary with Marcel Holmann:

http://www.holtmann.org/linux/bluetooth/isdn.html

There is here more to BlueZ? and PAN, obviously. Not so complicated as it looks!

If someone is interested in writing a script, which could be put as an icon on KDE (or still better, with is run at boot), it welcome to send me an e-mail ;-)

Have fun with AP-DSL!
